Lapino was bought as a yearling by family Deherthoge, then sold to Cleeren to finally go to England. There he was discovered by David McPherson, who had brilliant results with this horse. In 1997 he jumped 2.25m at Jumping Brussels in the Puissance. In 1998 he started to jump international GP. He was selected for the WEG in Rome and the Olympics in Sydney, but always got sold just before. First to Sharn Wordley, later to Japan, where he finalized his international carreero with a third place in the World Cup of Osaka.
